The team at AML Sheffield has returned from the DSEI exhibition (Defence & Security Equipment International), held last week at the ExCeL in London. The aim was clear: to showcase our capabilities, build key partnerships, and reinforce our position in the defence supply chain.

DSEI is one of the world’s premier defence and security trade shows. It brings together military, industry, government, and academia from across the globe to discuss new technologies, procurement, and collaboration. The event had upwards of 45,000 visitors, 1,500 exhibitors from over 30+ nations.

Managing Director, Dr. Gareth Morgan commented “it was fantastic to meet existing customers, suppliers and partners and of course to engage with new potential OEMs, integrators and primes. We were able to demonstrate our expertise in advanced manufacturing, machining and precision engineering, for components used in the defence sector, reinforcing AML’s reputation as a trusted, quality supplier”.

High-Performance Precision Machining at AML Sheffield

At the heart of AML Sheffield’s offering—and one of the biggest talking points at DSEI—is our high-performance precision machining capability. This is more than just manufacturing; it is the combination of advanced technology, engineering expertise, and a culture of continuous improvement that has  created a competitive advantage, enabling us to deliver complex components to support cutting-edge defence programmes.

AML is committed to the continuous development of our capabilities and our team. We recently celebrated our 23rd machine installation! This marks the 3rd DMU 60 Evo we’ve installed within the last two months. Investment in cutting-edge technology is central to how we support our customers and push the boundaries of what’s possible in advanced manufacturing. Every new machine gives our talented team even more scope to innovate, increase capacity, and deliver exceptional quality.

For our customers, AML’s differentiators are:

  • Continued capability in the machining of hard to machine, tight tolerance, complex geometries for defence applications
  • Defence Material Specialisations – Titanium, Nickel Based Superalloys, Softer Alloys inc. Aluminium
  • Secure, connected, digital systems that meet cybersecurity standards
  • Designated customer managers ensuring partners obtain delivery on time and to their requirements
  • Stronger partnerships – a trusted UK supplier ready to integrate into complex supply chains

At DSEI, these strengths resonated clearly. Many visitors highlighted how crucial it is to have domestic suppliers capable of delivering critical components with speed and reliability, particularly in a time of shifting global supply chains. AML Sheffield’s high-performance precision machining is not only a technical strength—it is a strategic advantage for customers seeking a dependable partner in defence and aerospace.
