Q&A with new General Manager Mathew Challinor | Machined Parts

The team at AML Sheffield is delighted to welcome Mathew Challinor as its new General Manager. Mathew joins the company with a wealth of experience as he has spent over 16 years working in various roles in engineering and manufacturing across the aerospace, defence and medical industries.

Dynamic and open-minded with a deep passion for manufacturing, innovation, technology and operation excellence across core production processes, Mathew is excited to apply his knowledge in his new role with AML.

Highly experienced in advanced CNC machining, with an excellent track record of improving efficiencies, the AML team is excited to have Mathew on board.

Below we ask Mathew a few questions on his time so far with AML –

Q1 Congratulations on your new role as General Manager. What does your new role involve?

My main role will be supporting the critical functions of the business, looking at how we can improve efficiency, improve our performance and increase our capabilities. I will also be supporting the long-term strategy of the business ensuring it is executed to achieve AML’s growth plans.

Q2 What attracted you to this role with AML?

The main attraction is AML’s level of investment in innovation and technology. The business is a market leader in precision machining technologies and processes for the manufacture of critical parts across various industry sectors.

Q3 What are the biggest challenges of the new role, I imagine no two days are the same working for such an innovative company?

The main challenges are growth, this needs to be done at pace and in a controlled manor to achieve customer expectations.

Q4 Lastly what do you most enjoy about your new job so far.

The people and the technical engineering challenges. For me, these two elements determine the success of any engineering business.
